Rose Hall Utilities Company Limited

Rose Hall’s new Water Reclamation Facility was designed to treat wastewater collected from this fast-growing coastal area. It is another illustration of the developers’ commitment to preserving the environment of this 7,000 acre resort community, as well as protecting its invaluable natural resources.

The facility will serve all present and planned hotels and other tourist facilities in Rose Hall, as well as providing treated wastewater for re-use on the resort’s three golf courses: The White Witch, Cinnamon Hill, and Half Moon. In addition to fairways, recycled water will be provided for lakes, lagoons and landscaping.

The key to water reclamation is the technology used to return the water to a standard suitable for reuse in public places. The heart of the Rose Hall facility is the Membrane Bioreactor process, which ensures that the treated water meets and exceeds the government’s environmental requirements, and that it is safe for use in public places.

Ten kilometers of pipeline assure that all hotels and facilities have the opportunity to use this advanced hydrosystem. The modular design of the facility will allow it to grow from its original 1.25 million gallons to a 2.5 million level when local development requires it. Although the plant and system currently treats primarily commercial facilities such as hotels, it will soon begin to handle residential areas as well. On opening, the facility is able to handle 660,000 gallons per day (the new Iberostar Hotel, for example, will be responsible for 350,000 to 500,000 gallons by itself).
